Reflecting on a Year of Community, Fun, and Growth: Wisconsin River Trail Organization’s 2023 Highlights

Introduction: A Heartfelt Thank You

Happy 2024! As we step into a new year full of promise and excitement, we at the Wisconsin River Trail Organization (WRTO) want to extend our deepest gratitude to our wonderful community. Your support in 2023 was the backbone of our success, and we’re thrilled to share some of our fondest memories and achievements with you.

Barn Dance Bliss: A Night to Remember

One of our most memorable events was the Good Old Fashioned Barn Dance in June. We welcomed back Boscobel’s own country singing legend, Bobby G Rice, for a nostalgic performance at the charming Memories on Maple. Despite the heat, the community showed incredible support, making it a night to remember. Bobby’s heartfelt performance at the Boscobel Care and Rehab was especially moving, creating unforgettable moments for everyone involved.

Sizzling Success: The Rooster Andy’s Chicken BBQ

Our annual Rooster Andy’s Chicken BBQ in July was a phenomenal hit! We sold out of 600 chicken dinners in record time, thanks to the overwhelming enthusiasm and support from all of you. This event always buzzes with excitement, and we’re already looking forward to seeing you again this year. Don’t forget to reserve your chicken dinner early!

Taste of Boscobel: A Flavorful Gathering

September brought the quieter, yet equally delightful, Taste of Boscobel. Despite a bustling schedule in town, the event was a lovely blend of local cuisine, drinks, music, and crafts. It’s these moments of community gathering and shared experiences that truly make our events special.

Hike/Bike Banquet: A Growing Tradition

Our annual Hike/Bike Banquet just keeps getting better! Thanks to the generous donations from our community, this event has become a hallmark of fun and fellowship. We introduced some changes this year, including a lighter meal option and reduced pricing, making it more accessible for everyone. The energy and positivity at this event are simply unmatched.

Keeping Time with Community: The Calendar Fundraiser

Our community calendar fundraiser, expertly handled by Marianne Krogen, keeps us connected with Boscobel, no matter where we are. Adding your family’s special dates to the calendar is a wonderful way to stay in touch and celebrate together, even from afar.

Trail Progress: A Bump in the Road, A Leap Forward

In July, we faced a setback with our Department of Transportation grant, but quickly turned it into an opportunity, securing a larger grant for our trail project. This means even more breathtaking views along Sanders Creek, albeit with a slight delay. We’re immensely grateful for the continued support and problem-solving assistance from the DOT and city officials.

A Call to Action: Support the WRTO Mission

Looking ahead, we invite you to join us in making 2024 even more impactful. Consider contributing a monthly donation of $10 to support WRTO. Your contributions significantly strengthen our grant applications and community initiatives.

Join the Team: Volunteer with WRTO

Finally, we’re always on the lookout for passionate individuals to join our WRTO Board or volunteer at our events. Your involvement, whether behind the scenes or in other capacities, is invaluable to us. Take a look at our About page to learn more.

Closing Thoughts: Onward to 2024!

As we embark on another year filled with promise, we can’t help but feel excited about what lies ahead. Thank you for being a part of our journey. Here’s to another year of making memories and fostering a thriving community spirit.
