Wisconsin River Trail Construction Phase 4
Phase 4
Undoubtedly, Phase Four represents the most significant challenge in the creation of this trail.
Collaborating with UW-Platteville Engineering teams, we have meticulously researched the logistical requirements of building a bridge versus relocating a local bridge. These astute minds have laid the groundwork for an unprecedented hiking, biking, snowmobiling, ATV, and UTV crossing in an area that was previously only accessible by boat or canoe, connecting Woodman and Wauzeka.
Imagine the potential tourism, the connectivity of these charming villages, and the economic upswing it would generate in our region.
Our plans have caught the attention of local and state governments, and we are optimistic about the positive impact this will have on Boscobel, Grant and Crawford counties, the Southwest Wisconsin region, and even the entire state.
Upon completion, the trail will span approximately 21 miles of pure outdoor recreation, inviting adventure-seekers of all ages.
Other Phases of the Trail
Phase 1
Completed in 2016, Phase 1 connects the Sanders Creek walking/biking trail to the Boscobel boat landing.
Enjoy the Wisconsin River Trail to walk, bike, run and view eagles’ nests, turtle habitats, and more safely.
Phase 2
In this phase, we’ll create a hiking/biking trail that leads from Boscobel toward Woodman.
It is economically and environmentally- friendly to parallel parts of the railroad tracks, 51 feet from the tracks, to minimize the need to clear land, and also, to widen easements that are not taxing to the landowners.
Phase 3
Phase 3 will bring the trail from Wauzeka to Boscobel along the scenic path of Highway 60, which closely follows the beautiful Wisconsin River.
Get ready to enjoy even more breathtaking views and a seamless trail experience from start to finish!

We're looking forward to meeting you on the trail with a smile and a friendly 'Hello'.
